As a parent, there is nothing I want more than to be able to give my children a Christmas full of gifts and surprise. In a world of more, more, more, it is SO easy for kids to get wrapped up in receiving presents and toys. Between holidays and birthdays, you could say that we could open our own toy store with all of the toys we have in the playroom! Of course, I want my kids to be kids and enjoy toys and gifts, but I am tired of the mindless toys we buy that are forgotten about the next day. This year I am making a huge effort to make sure that each gift will offer some sort of learning experience or enhance sensory development. I have rounded up a gift guide of items we already own and love, and items they will be receiving. I hope this helps give you affordable gift and stocking stuffer ideas.
All of the Leap Frog pads are wonderful. The fridge alphabet magnet is a staple in our house and both kids love the music. My daughter is in the beginning stages of learning how to read, so these will help give her an interactive visual. I love keeping these in the car when we travel. Instead of watching a dvd or handing her the I pad, these are a a better learning distraction on our road trips. The kids digital camera has been a favorite of hers for a while. She loves being able to take pictures and see it on the digital screen like a “grown up.”
Amazon has come up with some amazing affordable devices the past few years. We cannot live without our Amazon Fire Stick. I love it for children because you are able to access all of their shows through Amazon TV and Netflix. Such a handy device that my husband and I also use. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this is! The kids Echo Dot is a fun gift for the kid who loves music. They are able to talk to Alexa to ask questions and jokes, all with kids content in mind. The Amazon Tablet is a great alternative to an I pad. WAY cheaper and have a 2 year replacement guarantee. How awesome is that??? We know how rough kids are on their devices, so this is a GREAT incentive. They are able to access educational apps, videos and the web via WiFi.
Kenleigh loves playing restaurant and pretend shes having a picnic. Although, the 200 piece food set is a moms nightmare, she really enjoys pretending with the food. The Melissa and Doug diner set is precious. She will love that it comes with money, a working bell and menu. Melissa and Doug toys are so well made, so I love purchasing that brand when I can.
These little kid 4 wheelers are an inexpensive way to give your young child a ride on vehicle. We know how quick they grow out of these toys, so spending little money is a plus. These are on the smaller side, keep your child’s age and weight in mind when purchasing.
Dress up is another popular thing in our house. Especially princess dress up! These princess dresses are super cute and affordable. The shoes and crown set will definitely be a favorite. When she was 2, we gave her this play makeup set, and she LOVED it! How cute are these personalized capes? Perfect for the super hero lovin’ kid.
I love the idea of these reward charts. kids need a visual of what they are asked to do. Seeing the stickers build up to her reward will be an exciting way for her to want to help me around the house. For my son, I am getting him this sink set. It is a great sensory item because it works with real water. They love toys that imitate real house hold items, so this is perfect. We all know, I am training them to eventually take over my household duties! 🙂
As far as creativity goes, these are wonderful, no mess ways for kids to create. The Crayola Fun Board makes their creations glow, so its more exciting than traditional pen and paper. These neat pens are a perfect stocking stuffer. The writing can be seen only with the blue light, so she will think that is neat. The dry erase sheet can be stuck on a wall or cut to fit a desk. This magic mat is perfect for toddlers to draw while on the ground. The water pens are popular in our house, so I know this large mat will be fun for both kids to do together.
I love the idea of getting an older child these books. They are precious and make learning about historical women figures a little more kid friendly! Very inspiring and very educational.
A great unisex gift is this laser tag set. My daughter will love being able to run around the house playing tag. A great gift for siblings to share!
Personalized gifts are always a cute idea. Etsy is full of thoughtful personalized gifts. Remember, the shipping time on customized items tend to be longer, so get those orders in ASAP to ensure delivery by Christmas.
I hope this gave some inspiration on what to buy the young kids in your life.
