Looking for a festive, easy way to spruce up a boring traditional pie, without spending hours doing so? This is a perfect solution for you!
These cute Fall leaves are so festive and jazz up a boring ol’ apple pie. I got these from Amazon Prime. They offer a couple of Fall leaf options to choose from. Check your local baking or craft stores if you do not have enough time for shipment before Thanksgiving. They may have some themed cookie cutters that are comparable.
Buying premade crust is a definite shortcut and makes using these cookie cutters a breeze. I prefer these from Pillsbury because they are already in thin sheets, so there is no prep before using the cookie cutters. As for the bottom shell pie crust, I use the frozen Pillsbury deep dish pie crust in the pan.
Simply lay the crust and get started! This box comes with two crusts, which you will most likely need both to make enough leaves to cover the top of the pie.
Obviously, this can be done with any type of your favorite pie, but for this photo, I used this recipe from Taste of Home. Once you have cut enough leaves to create a top crust for they pie, lay them out in whatever pattern you like. Bake until the pie is bubbly and crust is golden brown. Enjoy!!
With Thanksgiving upon us, it is a time to reflect on what we are thankful for. I am thankful for this opportunity to share ideas and things that I love. I am thankful for YOU continuing to follow me and read my posts. Your support is greatly appreciated. I hope you and your family have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
XOXO,
Lyndsey
