One of my family’s favorite pasta meals is definitely this baked rigatoni. It is so hearty and serves many people. I love serving this when we have people over, especially when there will be many children. SO easy and SO good!
Ingredients:
- Rigatoni
- Package of ground mild Italian sausage
- Package of ground turkey
- 1-2 jars of your favorite pasta sauce-I prefer using a bolognese
- Italian seasoning, garlic powder or garlic salt
- Red pepper flake-optional
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions
- In a large pot, start to boil your water, and cook pasta according to the directions on pasta package.
- In a separate skillet, start to brown your ground turkey and Italian sausage together.
- Season your meat with your favorite seasonings. I prefer garlic salt, Italian seasonings, and Uncle Chris’s Steak Seasoning. Then cook meat all the way through. (I add a pinch of red pepper flake for extra flavor-totally optional)
- Then add your jar of pasta sauce to your meat mixture, and combine until bubbly.
- Drain cooked pasta, and pour pasta into a large Pyrex or oven safe baking dish.
- Add the sauce and meat mixture to the baking dish and combine with the pasta.
- Top with as little or as much of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake at 350 degrees, until cheese is melted and bubbling.
- ENJOY!
Notes: If you are not concerned with the fat content of the meat, you can use all Italian sausage and do not need to use the ground turkey.
To make more carb friendly, sub the rigatoni with zucchini noodles or spaghetti squash.
*When I make this, I like to make a large batch to have left overs. I use 1.5 jars of sauce and usually 1 box or 1.5 packages of rigatoni.*
